Affinity photo vs lightroom11/23/2023 They are both really excellent apps and work great on the 12.9” iPad Pro. If it wasn’t for the fact that an Adobe Lightroom plan doubles as cloud storage for all your photos (you get 1tb) I would think £9.99 a month is expensive but as a package that works seamlessly across your devices it is very convenient. I personally think Lightroom is a great app and much more useful, but I need Affinity to do things that Lightroom Mobile can’t like add custom watermarks and unlimited crop adjustments. LUT files can be used to color grade video in DaVinci Resolve or Adobe Premiere or be applied to images using Affinity Photo or Photoshop using a LUT. Affinity is like Photoshop so you would edit a single image at a time then save it as something different. Affinity is a more manageable program to run. Lightroom needs at least 2 GB of hard drive space. When it comes to cost, Affinity is a much cheaper alternative to Photoshop. This gives you Photoshop and Lightroom on desktop and iPad along with 20GB of storage on the Adobe cloud. Then there's the storage space required by Lightroom Classic, which is far greater. An Adobe subscription starts at 9.99 per month. It doesn’t change the originals which are backed up in the cloud. For example, Lightroom requires at least 4 GB, while Affinity Photo requires 2 GB of RAM. And you can instantly go back to undo changes using the History panel. Its a workflow tool, in that it handles everything from importing and organising images to producing final outputs in a number of ways. Both apps keep your original photo safe and secure while you make edits using the app. Both Affinity Photo and Photoshop are pixel-based editors that let you do many things Lightroom cant do, like composite multiple images with masks and layers. Affinity is a photo editing package, Lightroom is a workflow package, in that it does so much more than just editing images, its much more powerful than just the develop module. You could do basic adjustments in Affinity but it would take you longer and where would you store all of your originals? Lightroom is basically a database with a catalog file containing a record of all of your adjustments across your assets. The good news is both Affinity Photo and Lightroom are non-destructive photo editing apps. When you use it, you can change the tone of the whole picture and make the shadows and highlights look better. Lightroom and Affinity are very different. Photographers use the Curves tool to change the colors and contrast in their pictures.
